A quick look around
Sun glinting off wet black bill
A loon has surfaced

Is this what you were viewing as you poured that Balvenie 14? The more I read, the more it seems that so many work with the misconception that Haiku is easy, and yet so few have the ability to actually deliver Haiku in its truest form. It has me frustrated as I try to get it right. You do it very well.

Thanks for the Haiku compliment. I found your grayed sky to be very well done. As for the loon, that image plays around in my head when we get ready for a trip north. They are such beautiful animals, and have been so for eons with their haunting call. In the evening we sit at the end of the dock and just watch as they dive for fish along the drop-off.. And the eagles head for the islands in the late afternoon where their nests are in those patches of uninhabited wilderness.
