Two nights ago,
There was a patch of sunshine
On the floor of the guest bathroom.
Softened and silvered after visiting the moon,
Trimmed to a square by the skylight,
Laced with the silhouettes of bare rain tree branches.
This time of year finds the full moon nearly straight overhead.
At bedtime a stark beauty on a clear cold night.
